The BMW X1 sDrive28i is one of four BMWs on sale right now I'd buy.

The other three being the 228i, 320i, and Z4 sDrive35is

Not counting M cars, because X6M.

I really like the X1 a lot, maybe because it's so close to being a wagon, but still gives you a little off-road ability.

Could someone tell me what the hell is up with Germans and shitty cup-holders though? Like what the hell is that little arm sticking up out of my center stack?

Maybe because it's the cheapest BMW you can buy in the states. Mines a little pricey though.

I could forego a couple options like the power seats and heated front seats. I'd like to have the big panoramic roof though. The upgraded audio system is a must for my audiophile self.

I still wouldn't call $39,000 a bad price in a world where the GMC Terrain can cost as much.

Having driven the Z4, I wouldn't buy a Z4. So boring. And the most numb brake pedal I've ever felt. Seriously scary feeling brakes.

M235i was like twice as fun to drive, and about $10k cheaper. Can't wait until the M2 comes out.

I'm still trying to guess what engine the M2 is going to use. The engine from the M4 would probably be too much. The standard TwinPower 3.0 is already used.

Maybe it'll take after the original M3 and use a 4-cylinder that's more powerful than the I6!

If you're into sound, check out Bavarian Sound Werks. They make speaker upgrades for BMWs that fully integrate into the factory system.

Manual seats in BMWs are actually kinda nice. They use stepless adjustment IIRC, so you can put it exactly like you want. Unless the memory function is something you want, I wouldn't bother. Heated seats are nice if it's cold, and the cost and aggravation are more than $500 to add later.

Add M-sport to that and that's my ideal X1. I really like these and you can get them nicely optioned very ever so slightly used for really cheap. Dealers discount the hell outta these.

I just wish NA got the manual transmission. That would be fun.

I drove the previous gen and it was great. I've ridden in a current gen with the N55 engine and some mods (flash, FBO, coilovers, brakes, etc.) and I gotta say it was killing M3's.

I love it as well. I will probably get one eventually, but I'm afraid they will ruin it with the redesign that is coming sometime. My sister is in the market for something like this, but she is indifferent to every car, so I can't help her.

Thats what my moms 2010 CRV is like. I swear Its made of strawberry Jello. Everyone in my family has driven it and they all tell me "Thats How you know youve got good Brakes". Thats how you know my ass, its the opposite.

The manual would be great, but BMW's automatic is so well sorted out there really isn't any compromise with the autobox.

I have one as a loaner right now and it's ugly as sin. The interior on the one pictures looks nice though. My Subaru Forester XT was a much better crossover. BMy 335d is much more fun to drive than the X1

Paying over $30k for a car and getting manual seats just doesn't feel right. All the manual BMW seats I've felt have felt cheap. Adjustability is good, but you can do a lot more with the power seats. Also, the bare bones BMW interiors feel cheap, and now that the lower models come with four bangers, nothing feels as refined. I had a 2014 320i loaner for a week, and my 2011 335d with premium package feels much nicer.

They will stick the same engine in it that's in the M235i and just increase the boost. They're not going to stick a four in the M2 when the M235i has a six. That would be really stupid.

I dont have my license yet, and my parents have an idea about things, You have to have documentation for my parents to believe you that you know what you are talking about. My parents dont believe in self taught knowledge, D-I-Y = H-A-C-K in my parents head. They wont listen to me when I tell them that that is not how brakes are supposed to feel, My dad's Automatic V6 2000 Odyssey Drives better than the CRV.

The E30 M3 having a four banger has little to do with the likelihood of them putting a four in the M2 while putting a six in the M235i. The new four banger BMW engines are not very exciting.

I will agree with that. My E90 is an auto and it's been great so far. I plan on getting an alpina flash to speed up shifts but it's been good to me so far.

I've own three turbo fours, and the 320i I had for a week and a half didn't feel that much better than either of them (wrx, forester XT, Abarth). My Subarus make more power and cost a lot less, and run smoother. The Bimmer definitely rode nicer, and the twin scroll turbo feels good, but the engine itself still felt like a turbo four. And even the most refined four won't touch the smoothness and sound of a straight six. If I'm spending close to $40k for a decently equipped car, I don't want a four cylinder in it, unless it's a rally car (STI). My dad picked up an M235i and the turbo four can't touch the turbo six as far as refinement and enjoyment goes.
